Microbiological Test - With reference to ISO 18593:2004
Conclusion: Passed
All tests such as aerobic & anaerobic plate count, coliform, E.Coli, yeast & mould showed either absent or at below the minimum detectable amounts.
Comment: Earthens Foodware are completely hygienic & safe for immediate use once out of shrink pack.
Heavy Metal Test - With reference to ICP- OES
Conclusion: Passed
Comment: Heavy metals like iron, lead, copper & zinc showed at below the minimum acceptable amounts. Testing for heavy metals are for both human and environmental concern.
Sensorial Examination of Odour & Taste - With reference to DIN 10955:2004
Conclusion: Passed
Comment: No perceptible difference. Still we recommend that if longer filling time is required, please check the food in terms of sensorial changes (Odour and taste) after the recommended maximum filling time.
Heat Resistance Test
Comment: Earthens palm leaf foodware can withstand for little less than 2 minutes in the microwave on a high heat setting (29°) and for upto 40 minutes in the oven on 350°F. After the recommended time, deformation observed.
Pesticide Test - With reference to EPA 8081 and EPA 8141
Conclusion: Passed
Comment: Not detected. The areca palm trees are grown in mountainous areas without any assistance of fertilizers and hence there will not be any trace of pesticides in the sheaths.
Phytosanitation - Plant & Quarantine
Test: Before shipping, the container is fumigated and tested for safety. This is to certify that disposable foodware made from areca palm sheaths have been inspected according to appropriate procedures of Plant & Quarantine Department, India and are considered to be free from quarantine pests and practically free from other injurious pests and they are considered to conform with the current phytosanitary regulations of the importing country.
